Attorney Profiles

Patricia Carroll-Smit has practiced extensively in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, as well as in the civil courts of Cook County, Illinois. She has extensive litigation experience and has successfully defended hundreds of employment litigation claims, including six jury trials in which she served as first-chair. She is licensed to practice in the State of Illinois and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois (General and Trial Bar). She has also represented employers and individuals before local, state, and federal administrative agencies.

Ms. Carroll-Smit received her B.A. in Social Science from Mundelein College (now Loyola University), and her law degree from The John Marshall Law School, evening division.

Prior to her engagement with the Utreras Law Offices, Ms. Carroll-Smit was a senior supervising labor and employment attorney with the City of Chicago, Corporation Counsel's Office. Currently, she also serves as an adjunct professor at Northwestern Business College teaching legal studies.
